Salt flats are a popular choice of tourist destination, at least in part because of the eye-catching pictures one can take there. It’s hard to gauge how big they are: and as a result, a picture taken here can look like one from the middle of the Antarctic!
Popular and well-known salt flats, also known as salt pans, include the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, the Etosha pan in the Etosha National Park in Namibia, and the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, which is the largest salt pan in the world.
