OK, it’s not really a leaf. This is Gonepteryx rhamni, a butterfly that is part of the Pieridae family. Like we said before, some creatures use optical illusions to make them look like predators, but others use them to camouflage themselves as something innocuous so that predators leave them alone.

Gonepteryx rhamni is in the latter category, disguising itself as a pale green leaf. It still looks pretty though, especially next to these lovely purple flowers.
