[post_page_title]The moon in your garden[/post_page_title]
Sometimes the orbits of the Earth and the moon work in such a way as to bring the moon closer. But it’s still not actually close enough to reach out and touch, like it looks in this picture. Meanwhile, in this picture the moon appears orange-red, but of course its color hasn’t really changed.
The appearance of this color is due to the way light is refracted as it travels through the atmosphere from the moon to our eyes. It’s similar to the process that makes the sky appear blue!
